Job Description
The Electrical Journeyman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. This position requires a high level of technical skill, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The journeyman is also expected to lead, manage, and hold accountable apprentices and other team members on assigned tasks.
Qualifications
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License (state-specific).
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to safely operate and maintain a company vehicle.
- Experience in commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in various environments (indoors, outdoors, heights, confined spaces).
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently and accurately.
- Lead and guide apprentices and less experienced journeymen on job sites.
- Manage daily work tasks and ensure timely, high-quality completion of assignments.
- Hold team members accountable for safety, quality, and productivity.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles in clean and functional condition.
- Ensure company vehicles are stocked with necessary tools and materials.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs or incidents promptly.
- Document work performed and materials used.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and team members.
- Adhere to OSHA and company safety regulations at all times.
Base Schedule (Full-Time)
- Monday – Friday (8 Hours per Day)
